Infinity Space

Have you ever seen the difference between the animals in the wild and those in confined spaces? In the wild, the freedom to roam, freedom to explore, freedom to evolve, freedom with other animals, freedom to express and build..all I see is the freedom to be and do! On the other hand, animals in the confined space have lived as per schedule made by someone else, eat only what is given, do only what is being told, so very mechanical and depressing!

A vast space that one can explore

Being from an orthodox background, there were many barriers for my mother which she could not explore. She was a woman of integrity and sincerity who always wanted to do good for others. Having grown in a family with loads of care and love, she became a different person after marriage as this aspect changed her personality. She was married off in grade 10. Earlier she was told what to do by her parents then after marriage by her in-laws and husband. Now, whenever I hear her stories, I feel emotional dissonance. Was it fair she did not get to live the way she wanted or was given an option to explore herself? She has been confined to two spaces almost all her life. But today, nearing her early sixties, she is exploring. She is living as per the changing environment. So it is never too late to live for oneself!

I am always intrigued by the life cycle of a butterfly. After the butterfly lays the egg on a leaf, it has to fend for itself. However, it has been given that start by making sure that it gets food on hatching. As a caterpillar, all it does is — eat. Nothing else matters. Then it goes into a confined space. On transforming it flies out as a beautiful bug. Not many like the butterfly as a caterpillar or pupa. But the same creature is mesmerising when it has wings with lovely colours to display!

We may be confined to a small space, but what do we do to transform ourselves within that space is very important. We have different priorities at various stages of our lives. How we manage it and give time to ourselves matters.

Another lady I admire is late Sou. Sindhu Tai Sapkal. A lady of infinite will to do good for orphaned children. An unwanted child herself, who rose from poverty and fought for the benefit of many. Lovingly known as ‘Mai’ (mother). Here, she created space out of confines and led a life of freedom. There are many such stories, but what are you making of your confined space is what matters.

Unlimited space to explore!!

It is important that you look after yourself, do things that make you happy and at times it’s good to pamper yourself. Go explore, live an adventurous life! We live once, but how we live is up to us!! Use your infinite space well!! In the journey find out more about yourself, life will never cease to surprise you.
